Are the New iPhones Too Big for Women's Hands?

Apple unveiled its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus earlier this week and The Atlantic has one question: Are the new smartphones too big for women's hands?

According to the publication, in order to operate an iPhone 6 with one hand, a person's thumbs have to be almost five inches long, straining to reach the far corner of the phone. And oftentimes, females are the one with the smaller fingers.

In fact, about a year ago, sociologist Zeynep Tufekci wrote an article about the frustration of being a woman using a phone that's been designed by men.

What do you think? Are the new iPhone 6 and i Phone 6 Plus way too big for female hands? Or are most smartphones not even designed to be used with just a single hand? Sound off.

I love big phones... I searched for the biggest phone there was when I was getting mine. I settled for something slightly smaller than the biggest one because I liked the OS and camera better. Also, why not just say "people with small hands" what a crappy distinction, as there are women with big hands, and men with small hands.

Ok... New iPhone 6 plus is just over 6 inches long.. In my experience most women have no trouble handling bigger than that

No I say the bigger the better and I'm waiting for whichever company Apple or Samsung comes out with it first. A tablet that has a phone on it in which you can use the phone while a person searches the Web

Not sure why gender was put in the question. Some women have big hands, and some men have smaller hands. Why not just ask whether the new iPhone was too big for people with smaller hands?

I am a 13 year old girl and I have really big hands (same size as my dad's!) so I don't find holding wide phones difficult I actually much prefer widescreen phones

I don't like phones that look like mini TVs. but maybe that's because I still have an iPhone4. I'd love to have a 5, or a 5c though. Whatever fits in my (little) pockets works for me.

It depends, some women have big hands and some have small hands. I got the 6+ and I have ***** sized hands. I don't mind using 2 hands to use it.

Wow! Talk about ****** questions! So are every woman's hands the same size? Are all women's hands smaller than men's hands? Generalizing is the essence of all kinds of prejudice and discrimination, especially gender discrimination. The IPhone 6 may be too large for _some_ women's hands, and it may be too large for _some_ men's hands. Men and women are individuals with individual characteristics.

I don't have, want or need a smartphone. There is nothing online that's so fascinating that I gotta see it while on the bus, or crossing the street. There is no one I need to call that can't wait until I get home.
