One of my cats just brought back two bird's eggs that he presumably took out of a nest. What should I do with them, or is there anything I can do? I'm guessing I just have to be cruel here and do nothing because even if they hatch, there would be no way to raise them properly...

Hehe, they get over it when you pet them or feed them. Like a little kid throwing a tantrum.

Call animal control or something. I don't know. When we stayed on a farm, my mom used to give eggs to the animals and they loved it. Dogs love them especially. It's like eating a jawbreaker when it becomes soft to them.

I called up and I was told just to get rid of it...

You could take them to your local humane society, they may incubate them and hatch them. Not sure, I know we would have done that.

Do this...bury them just like you would a pet. Its not exactly cruel because more than likely, theyre already dead

Seems like I may have to. They're wrapped up at the moment to keep them warm, and it's only 3 am so I can't exactly call anyone about them.

Yea, your pretty much gonna have to just dispose of them. The bird won't take them back now. You could try making scrambled bird eggs?

Disposing of them is going to make me feel very guilty...

They usually are unhappy when you let what they catch go...my cats will usually try run after it so we have to lock them inside. Once when we tried to free a bird from one of them, he bit the birds head off then walked away -.-

Awww the poor squirrel must have been terrified :( How did your cat even catch a squirrel in the first place? I think he just wanted to torture the poor thing, cats can be very cruel :(

It's the first time they've brought eggs back, they usually bring back birds and mice still alive...Skeletons? Where do they find all the bones? >.<

We had a big gust of wind out of nowhere come up one day, knocking down a bird nest with 3 babes, couldn't fly yet, into out pool. Luckily we were outside when it happened. We got them out, salvaged what dry part of the nest was left, put them and it in a box, and found a wildlife rescue not too far from us. They checked them out, said they were remarkably calm for what happened, and said they take care of them, when they get ready to fly, they take them to a place w/other birds that are soon to be ready to be released, and they'd be fine. It was great, & I'm glad they have a wild animal rescue for birds too. Incucbate your eggs if possible, then take them to a wildlife rescue, & if they don't take them, ask where you can find a bird rescue.

They're always bringing home mice and birds, often still alive. He brought home a bee last week -.- It's awful when they bring you dead things :(
