Yes.

Seriously, I live in a large city and walk five to ten miles per day. I witness at least one accident each week, from simple fender benders to cars rolling over. In the past five years I've had to appear in court three times as a witness.

A drunken man in a wheelchair crossed a busy street against the light. An oncoming police car, with lights and siren on, swerved to miss him and ran head-on into a phone pole. They had to cut the car apart to extract the officer, who spent a week in the hospital.

A mentally unbalanced woman tried to pass traffic on the right, driving up on the sidewalk at 30-40 mph. She hit a concrete post head-on, her SUV spun 90 degrees and almost rolled before settling on its wheels. She jumped out and ran up the street screaming "They're going to kill me!", leaving her three ******** in the van; none were wearing seat belts, fortunately the only injury was a seven year old girl got a ****** nose.

An impatient woman made a left turn in front of oncoming traffic, causing a three car pile up. All the way to court she contended "They seen my turn signal on, they shoulda stopped and let me gone on".

A senile man pulled into traffic broadsiding a van and sending it spinning down the street. He got out of his car and calmly walked down the str...

A senile man pulled into traffic broadsiding a van and sending it spinning down the street. He got out of his car and calmly walked down the street to a bus stop.

Some suspected drug dealers being chased by the police caused a massive pileup in an offramp intersection; their car spun and rolled halfway across the overpass, three cars were totaled and several others received major damage. No one was seriously injured.

As a pedestrian I've been hit seven times in twelve years. Each time I was in a crosswalk with the light. Four of those times the driver was on the phone and looking down the street for an opening, oblivious to what was in front of them. One woman even claimed it was my fault for jumping on the hood of her car. Only once have I required medical attention; after walking two miles home, I awoke the next day with my knee swollen about three times its normal size and unable to bear any weight.

Yes! When I was a teenager I witnessed a bad accident. It was just after dark one summer evening and my friend Matt and I were headed out to the neighborhood corner where we and our friends would gather. Just as we came upon the main roadway, we heard the scream of a motorcycle at full throttle far in the distance. As we were walking towards the increasingly louder sound the cycle came into view. I would estimate his speed at upwards of 80 mph. Suddenly he seemed to start to lose control and wobble. Trying to save it, he crossed the center line and sideswiped a parked car. After glancing off of the parked car he struck a small car head on. The bike and the rider were catapulted over the car and came tumbling towards me and Matt. After tumbling and twisting about 50 ft the bike and the rider came to a rest. Somehow the bike was still running even though it was very mangled, and it lay there idling. The rider however was not so fortunate. He laid there in a contorted grotesque mass of human flesh. Standing there in shock for a minute, we finally slowly went closer to the rider to see if he was alive. As we did this we noticed the sounds of police sirens coming to the scene. The rider somehow had survived the crash but that was only temporary, he did not make it to the hospital....

The rider somehow had survived the crash but that was only temporary, he did not make it to the hospital. The driver and passenger of the car were uninjured except for the shock of what had just happened to them. Before you feel to sorry for the rider of the bike, we soon learned that he had beaten up a teenage girl at a local mall and had stolen her purse. He then fled the scene being pursued the mall security. He then came upon a guy on a motorcycle at a traffic light and kicked him in the head, knocking him off of the bike. He then jumped on the bike and raced off, fleeing the sound of police vehicles arriving at
the scene. The rest of the story you know already. I don't want to say he got what he deserved, but it's **** to feel to sorry for him.
