I have no doubt i would be more successful in business if i had the ability to sell myself better. Too often i put myself in the position of the buyer and empathise with his own situation as i am also a buyer in other fields and would also like to be treated fairly...maybe i'm just too ethical and cannot see myself being a 'snake-oil' or 'foot-in-the-door' salesman type but when it comes to debates i like to practice my ability to convince others of my own perspective and feel good if others accept my views...so keep the raves coming ;o))

Never been in sales but with the type of work I do, important that they see it my way. If not, I am doing something wrong.

I don't like people much and I'm pretty sure I convey that no matter what my profession. Sales requires you to at least project that you do and I require that you leave me alone.

I'm not a big enough ***hole to be a salesman.

I don't believe in trying to convince people to spend their ****-earned money on something they don't actually need or want.

I didn't get to be sales manager over a 250+ person staff of sales reps without being able to sell! Love the art of the deal!

Got an actual, living woman to marry me so, I mean, I must be.

The wedding didn't involve rope or duct tape. I felt obligated to mention that...

Don't judge me...

I am very good at convincing people. One time I sold a service to the sister of the owner of our biggest competitor (his company and the company I was working for were very strong rivals). My boss was not able to believe her eyes :o)

once in awhile I can sell myself or my own skills...I have sold products that I believe in...at least to some extent...but, no, when it comes to making a living selling products or services...it's not my forte...

A good salesman hasn't any problem stretching truth for personal gain. What part of that is honorable?

I can only tell the truth about anything. If that sells the idea or products - then so be it.

It all depends on what I am trying to push.

But only if I believe in the product and there's no pressure to sell. I sold insurance once when I was working my way through College and I often broke monthly sales targets and most of the time I just tried to convince people not to buy certain products that the company was pushing or to spend less, or explain how the company was trying to rip them off etc.

Learned from and had the best teachers. What products and services I like selling the most are those to people who really need and can afford them. Makes me very happy when I have a satisfied client.

I have always been to concerned about the cost of something. A good salesman, like a good gambler, has to have the attitude that money is not a problem if you get what you want or need.

Couldn't even sell cold lemonade to a man dying of thirst in the Sahara.

In my marketing MBA course, we learned a 3 step plan for sales.
Determine a need, create a desire, then close, the sale!

I cannot sell you what you don't already want to buy.

I am probably too honest to be a salesman. I would be sending people to the competition if I felt they had a better deal or product.

But I really HATE doing sales. I'm very shy and it takes a lot out of me emotionally to be the friendly person a sales person is expected to be, to make contacts (if you're selling to a business, you're thought of as a nuisance), and extoll the product. UGH!

No because I am unable TO LIE TO SELL SOMETHING. IF IT'S A BAD PRODUCT OR ONLY OKAY i HAVE TO SAY THAT. IT IS NOT IN ME TO SELL SOMETHING i DON'T BELIEVE IN.

I could sell shaved ice to an Eskimo!

Actually... no. I can't sell anything that I do not believe in 100%. I think really good salespeople have to be a bit deceptive, and to me, that's akin to lying.
