1.The Château de Pierrefonds
1 chteau pierrefonds
A castle situated in the commune of Pierrefonds in the Oise département (Picardy) of France. It is on the southeast edge of the Forest of Compiegne, north of Paris, between Villers-Cotterêts and Compiegne.
picardy france southeast edge forest compiegne north paris villers-cotterts compiegne
The Château de Pierrefonds includes most of the characteristics of defensive military architecture from the Middle Ages, though it underwent a major restoration in the 19th century.

If you want an picture-postcard example of a castle, you don’t have to go anywhere but the Château de Pierrefonds in France. Although it may have started out as a structure designed to keep some folks out and others safely in, it was later partially sugar frosted by none other than Napoleon the 3rd, who was shooting for a true nobility status symbol: a iced cake that no one but the very rich and very privileged could eat.

Pierrefonds is still a beautiful place, even if its fortifications were overly gilded –- or maybe because of it. It’s no wonder it's used to this day when central casting gets a call for a classic castle.

2.Neuschwanstein ("The New Swan Rock} Built by a totally insane German king, namely Ludwig II of Bavaria
The Neuschwanstein Castle is one most visited castles in Germany and one of the most popular tourist destination in Europe. The castle is located in Bavaria, near the town of Fussen
popular tourist destination europe nbspthe castle located innbspbavaria town fussen
Ludwig II (Ludwig Otto Friedrich Wilhelm
located innbspbavaria town fussen ludwig ii ludwig otto friedrich wilhelm
sometimes rendered as Louis II in English) (25 August 1845[2] – 13 June 1886) was King of Bavaria from 1864 until shortly before his death
Neuschwanstein castle has a very beautiful inner garden surrounded by a walled courtyard. It even has an artificial cave. Neuschwanstein’s interior is as beautiful as its outside. Though only 14 rooms were finished before Ludiwg II’s sudden death in 1886, these rooms were majestically decorated. The two story throne room was designed in Byzantine style, with wall paintings depicting angels. Ironically, there is no throne in the Throne Room, as Ludwig died before it was completely finished.

Glitzed and filigreed, Neuschwanstein is like Ludwig’s twisted brain turned inside out and realized in stone and brick. It is also sublime and splendid, over-the-top and strangely fragile - all at the same time. truly a place not of this world.
turned realized stone brick sublime splendid over-the-top strangely fragile world
The construction of the Neuschwanstein castle began in 1869 But Ludwig II wanted the castle to be perfect, so the immense building was not finished even at Ludwig’s death in 1886

3.Coral Castle
castle immense building finished ludwigs death 1886 3 coral castle
Coral Castle is a stone structure created by the Latvian American eccentric Edward Leedskalnin (1887-1951) north of the city of Homestead, Florida in Miami-Dade County at the intersection of U.S. 1 (South Dixie Highway) and Southwest 157th Ave.

The structure comprises numerous megalithic stones (mostly limestone formed from coral), each weighing several tons. It currently serves as a privately-operated tourist attraction. Coral Castle is noted for the mystery surrounding its creation, considered to be built single handedly by Leedskalnin using magnetism and/or supernatural abilities

The Thirty Ton Stone

Edward Leedskalnin was jilted by his 16-year-old fiancée Agnes Scuffs in Latvia, just one day before the wedding. Leaving for America, he came down with allegedly terminal tuberculosis, but spontaneously healed, stating that magnets had some effect on his disease.

Edward spent over 28 years building the Coral Castle, refusing to allow anyone to view him while he worked. A few teenagers claimed to have witnessed his work, reporting that he had caused the blocks of coral to move like hydrogen balloons. The only tool that Leedskalnin spoke of using was a "perpetual motion holder."

My father was stationed in Mainz in the U.S. Army. I went to school at Wiesbaden. Twenty years later I was stationed there at Kaiserslautern. I loved it!

For those interested in the Medieval Dinner, here is a link;

Turns out that link above is for military people.

This one is for civilians who cannot book through the Military installations;

Yes, I have been to Neuschwanstein Castle in germany. We use to have an oil painting of it hanging in our home when I was growing up. My parents saw a guy outside in the parking lot painting the castle when they visited it and bought the painting for $25 dollars, and back in 1957 that was alot of money.
Don't know what ever happened to that painting, was big about 3 foot by 4 foot, but I remember growing up looking at that Neuschwanstein Castle painting every day for years. The whole painting gave a sense of well being for some strange reason.

These are all creepy. I wouldn't want to spend one night in any of these places. I visited a lot of Castles in Ireland in March. They were not as big as any of these.

I went to Neuschwanstein three times when stationed in Europe. There were two ways to get to the castle from Fussen. One was to walk and the other was to ride up in a horse-drawn wagon. I rode the wagon on the second trip but walked the other two.

Another really nice one is at Cochem on the Mosel River.

My girlfriend took me there for a Medieval Dinner the year that I turned 35.

**** to believe it's been 22 years already.

I enjoyed your list. I might add the Chateau de Chambord, even if it was never an actual castle. Perhaps the Palais Royale in Paris too. Or the Alhambra, which was a Moorish castle/palace in Spain. How about the Escorial? Or the Alcazar? chateau de chambord Palais Royale in paris

Awesome. Just some more things I need to add to my list of things to see.

No eastern Castles? I've been to Osaka Castle and Himeji Castle and they were both pretty cool, though admittedly Osaka's interior has been renovated into a museum. But still.

The second castle in Germany , the Neuschwinstein talking about the inner gardens is the wrong picture. Those inner gardens are from the "summer home" the Linderhof. and it's about 50kms away Behind it is some grottos where King Ludwic had Ladies dress as Mermaids

What is not told in this article is that every one of these beautiful castles was bought and paid for or financed by the Rothschilds family bankers fortunes who just happen to own most or all of Europe and most of the big international businesses here in the united states as well. They the Rothschilds are the true owners of the world and they are the same family that wants Central Banks in every nation in the world so they can control all of the money of the world. Thus far the only nations that do not have central banks are the nations that are at war, gee what a coincidence.
