... very much to my own benefit. “Studies on forgiveness have shown that nursing everlasting resentment against a wrongdoer, never forgiving, and taking revenge do not restore peace of mind to the victims or to their kin. On the contrary, forgiving, in the sense of renouncing hatred for the criminal, has been shown to have by far the best regenerating effect in restoring some sense of inner peace.” from Happiness by Ricard

Yes I do, as it often happens to me personally and other forgiving people I know (which doesn't stop us from continuing being the way we are):

Do you really think so?

Unfortunately, because people usually see it as a permission to hurt you all over again.

Yes. Forgiveness is unconditional

Yes. I believe and trust people I can't hold a grudge not in me. I feel like it's poison to not forgive.

I just don't forget. It would be unwise to forget. You have to learn better for it to never repeat again.

I was able to forgive my mother before she died.
She could remember things I had forgotten.
She wouldn't let me play outdoors because she wasn't feeding me often enough.
She used to have me sit at a separate place when the family ate.
She would give me 2 small bites of food and have me sit there while they ate dinner.
That way there would be enough for them to eat.
When you ration food, choose to starve the nicest and the least violent of the lot.

In most situations, yes. Unless you mistreat one of my ******** or grandchildren or are not a genuine person and portray yourself to be that which time will show to be untrue. I have no use for fake people who try to gain my attentions through deceptions.

Screw me over and I won't ever forget it. You only get one chance.

It's not that difficult to forget - all you have to do is to visit the situation with a different perspective!

“Society needs forgiveness and healing so that grudges, venom, and hatred are not perpetuated. Hatred devastates our minds and causes us to devastate others' lives. Forgiving means breaking the cycle of hatred.” from Happiness by Ricard
