Absolutely. There are many life lessons, learning and earning by the sweat of one's brow.

When everything is handed to a ***** - you are teaching him that he doesn't need to do anything in life to get things. You are really doing him a disservice. If you give them 'stuff' all the time, they will expect that when they are older - thinking they are entitled - and then when they are out in the real world and they find out that it doesn't work that way - they will have a very difficult time coping. So as a parent, it’s important that you teach your ***** the value of **** work and earning things. He needs to make that integral connection between making an effort and achieving success. It makes it more rewarding when you've worked for something.

Otherwise they place no value on it. Looks at the entitlement crowd, they get a lot and appreciate nothing or the sacrifices others make to earn what they get.

Of course; it's a great feeling to know you earned and learned to get something you want.
