I had a most moving experience yesterday when I was present for the adoption ceremony of my upstairs neighbors who had been fostering a baby boy for the past 1 1/2 years. They got this infant when he was 5 days old, 5 lbs, and had been abandoned at the hospital. I've been part of the journey and an integral part of this baby's life and the family's journey to adopt. As of yesterday, Jackson is officially theirs!

Yesterday, was Adoption day at the Los Angeles ********'s Courthouse (check out this link: http://abc7.com/archive/9336804/

And while I was there I met a group of gnarly looking bikers - who had the hearts of kittens. "Bikers Against ***** Abuse - Keepers of The ********". "Bikers Against ***** Abuse (BACA) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused ********. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower ******** to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect ********. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused ***** that this ***** is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these ******** from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner, however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a ***** from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle.

Often I look for poll topics that can bring us together. Too often on ** we are at eachother's throats - be it political (democrat vs republican) or religious (Christianity vs Judaism vs Scientology vs atheism vs. Catholocism) and on and on. Here is something I wanted to share with everyone. I hope you are as moved and I have been.

Very nice story...

There's plenty of good people in this world,I never have doubted that..
They just don't get the coverage that the bad people get.

Too much media can put your mind in a false state...

Thank you John and thanks for posting the link! That is so true about the media. Where are these great stories? Certainly, there aren't enough of them - and that is an indication of a sick society. But then some group steps forth, and then great folks like you and others on this poll to spread the word and support the good works. What an eye-opener this was for me. These guys are the Guardians for the angels!

What a great topic indeed ..
for ******** .. are truly a gift from *** ..
(and they should NOT be preyed upon in any way)

*** BLESS these Bikers ..

and all who support ******** and help them too ..
(let's also note here the "Toys for Tots" (Marine Corps Charities and their work with ********)
as well as all the Military Posts (which have active ********'s programs and also support programs that aide, care for and help ******** too)

(let's also note that I, too .. have been a motorcyclist for decades upon decades .. and every post group I was in actively supported multiple charities .. including charities for ******** and elders .. )

My Dad and Mom are with the Patriot Guard, C.M.A. and A.B.A.T.E. They do a lot of good in our state. They have a toy run every Saturday after Thanksgiving for the ******** in our area with a cookout and visit from Santa. They do a poker runs for the animal shelter, abused women's shelter and veterans. They are constantly doing events that help the needy in our area and state. Not all bikers are bad guys, there are a whole lot of them who are the good guys!

They're really awesome. Of course, I am a bit prejudice. My parents are both nearly 80 and they still ride their Harley and go out with them and do really great things.

Bravo what a great topic and one close to my heart. That group of bikers are angels. ***** abuse in America is mostly ignored. There are more than 3.4 million ******** (reported only) that are abused per year and 4-5 that die daily from abuse. It is a pretty sick society we have in America where so many ******** are abused and do not have the media coverage as that of other superficial issues.

Thanks for sharing this with everyone! Your out there doing good things, too Angel! There are a lot of good bikers out there. My ex-husband was a biker and our daughters name is Harley D.. I'll be very honest here and tell you that at the age of 30 she legally changed it to Adelaide Faith. That was her choice. Her father and I went on a couple Toys for Tots runs and they were wonderful! Some of the kindest, gentlest, giving people I knew were bikers. Its good to see people recognize them as just human beings. They care about their families and ******** just like anyone else. Many are college educated and have professional positions in the work force. My biker days ***** when my ex and I divorced, but I'll always have respect and fond memories of the time I spent with those who rode.

Harley D! How interesting! I love it! I didn't know all this about you, my friend. Its so moving to hear about all these groups and what they do for the kids. I think this is where my calling lay - although I'm not quite sure I'm about to go out and get tatooed and learn to ride a bike! Altho I think my kids would love it if I did. The Bikers are such an awesome group. It's so nice hearing about good people in this world. And I am so incredibly happy for your friends and the baby they adopted. Thank you for sharing this uplifting and humanity-restoring post with all of us :)

Never underestimate the power of well-intended people in large groups, standing against ***** abuse. This is the mind-set we need: A pro-active mind-set, to do something. Kudos for these guys.

Furthermore, bikers rock. Let us not forget that as well. With some AC/DC or Judas Priest on the background. ZZ Top if you're into them.

Thank you Nicole. It was incredible to see and experience how all the neighbors rallied around the baby to welcome him and to help the new parents. When they first got him, they were completely unprepared. Neighbors bought diapers, loaned them the cradle and stroller, etc. I have been privileged to have been there from the get-go, seeing him through the adoption, and watching how he has grown, and how he is loved by so many.

There are a lot of bikers out there, none of who are related to the criminal elements.

My brother and his buddies operate a christmas gift run every year and collect thousands of toys for the needy. They fill a massive warehouse full of toys and distribute them from there. It is a massive undertaking and riding in November in the cold of Canada is not a fun ride either.

There are all kinds of biker groups out there most people will never know about. Most of us didn't know about the patriot guard that long ago. There are groups around here who do all kinds of charity work. HOG is a HUGE sponsor of the Providence House here in Shreveport. There is a poker run and a few other events the local bikers put on for Camp I'm Still Me. That is a camp for burned ********.

It is a CLASSIC case of "Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover". bikers for jesus

So true, Sheila. I remember my daughter's sweet 16 party. Lots of really nicely presented boys. Then this group of guys showed up - looking rather punky and I thought "uh oh". They were the sweetest guys, with the best manners. At the *** of the night they came up to me and asked if they could help clean up! They were the only kids who did that! I remember saying to myself what you just uttered "Don't judge a book by its' cover." don t judge a book by its cover

I love that these bikers are tough on the outside and soft on the inside!! It's a shame that many people have hate towards bikers, just because they wear leather and ride loud bikes. I am misunderstood as well and stereo-typed because I have a LOT of tattoo's. Never mind how I live my life, I help others any chance I can. My post down the page goes into detail and explains who I am, the real me, not the old lady full of tattoo's.

My hubby and I rode for years, and we were met with all the hatred and bad feelings towards bikers...My hubby was even asked to leave McDonalds when he stopped for a coffee one day...and yet, we are the ones out there in front doing rides for Toys for Tots, Memorial Runs, Raising money for Needy families, helping families and kids whenever we get the chance...
Judging a book by its cover is only shorting yourself of possibly the best people you could ever know, ones that will help without question and will give the shirt off their backs for almost any worth while cause...
I was in Publix on day after work, still in work clothes, picking up pet food when a woman comes up to me and hands me a Publix gift Certificate.....She said "Read and Pay it forward if you can"....It was in memory of a biker who was killed on SR 52 and he would always purchase gift cards and hand them out to anyone he felt needed them or just because...
I used it, copied the message that was with it and then bought another one and passed it on...

Bikers arent all bad...
