This is what all my son's pants look like right now... 12 month pants are too short on him, 18 month pants are still a little too long... I have to cuff most of them, and then some still don't fit... why don't they make pants between those two sizes?

I suppose there are several different names for them, but I have always found them ridiculous! If you are going to wear pants that long, wear pants! Shorts are above the knee for men in my opinion.

if you are a woman you call these capris. On a male they look like you are the poor kid in elementary school.

They can be AT the knee and still be shorts, but past the knee they're capri pants/peddle pushers.

I think shorts are only shorts if they show the knees at least. I am wanting summer to come already. I wear cargo shorts all summer.

Not necessarily. I have someone that works with me that wears pedal pushers almost down to the ankles, but I consider like bermuda or cargo to be shorts. I often think "Why do they wear pants like that almost to the ankles, are they expecting a flood or something?" Then I figure, some people are more comfortable like that. Remember, we all have different comfort zones.

Culottes are an item of clothing, originally the knee-breeches commonly worn by gentlemen of the European upper-classes from the late Middle Ages or Renaissance through the early nineteenth century. This style of tight trousers ****** just below the knee was first popularized in France during the reign of Henry III (1574–1589). Culottes were normally closed and fastened about the leg, to the knee, by either *******, a strap and buckle, or by a draw-string. During the French Revolution of 1789–1799, working-class revolutionaries were known as the "sans-culottes" – literally, "without culottes" – a name derived from their rejection of aristocratic apparel. In the United States, only the first five Presidents, from George Washington through James Monroe, wore culottes according to the style of the late 18th century.
