I look em directly in the eye and let them know on some deep unspoken level that I am perfectly capable of removing their spleen from their body.

Maybe? I have trouble with looking at people in the face while talking. It's something I've had to work on.

You seem to have a lot of questions that people brought up in American culture would know the answers to instinctively. Are you trying to help someone fit into our society that wouldn't know these things?

I usually alternate between eye contact and watching people's mouth while they talk. Not sure why but watching their mouth happens automatically. Maybe I'm subconsciously learning to lip-read lol.

I think you'd find that you do tend to make eye contact with your friends, at least more often than you'd think.

I am but a mere peasant and would never show such insolence that I would look a higher status person directly in the eye.

I've never really been clear on the rules of eye contact, which is why I hate it. I was always taught, with people like bosses, teachers, anyone interviewing you, you need to make clear eye contact while speaking. It's not something I would do in a situation with friends, at least not consistently.

I don't believe the BS about status. No one is higher or lower than I am in status. I look anyone that I talk to or is talking to me straight in the eye. Anything else is less than honest.
