At present, no. They could refuse. It's shameful and despicable, but they could refuse if they so choose.

You haven't seen religious drama in your lifetime. You should read up on the pogroms in Europe in past centuries. The history books generally show them as being aimed at the Jews - but they were aimed at everyone that made the community feel uncomfortable. Gypsies and vagabonds, ****, Jews, immigrants, you name it. Any outsiders were at risk, as well as insiders who didn't conform.

Nope. The pastor has his beliefs, and forcing him to act contrary to those beliefs is just wrong. His beliefs are wrong, but it is MORE WRONG to force him. The couple can find another church, or get a Justice of the Peace to marry them.

Ditto with all the *** agenda nonsense. If some preacher won't marry you, then just move along. I'm tired of the drama.

I'd like to be able to say that such a thing would never happen in a church, but I did find a news article from back in 2011 about "a small Kentucky church voted to ban interracial couples from membership and from participating in certain worship activities."

Now, the funny part is there's more to the story than just racism. There's racism in there, but I think there's a little more to it, see what you think...

I would love to have been a fly on the wall for this: the church "made the decision earlier this month, following a visit from 24-year-old Stella Harville, daughter of the church's secretary and clerk, and her 29-year-old fiance, Ticha Chikuni, a native of Zimbabwe.

"According to Harville's father, Dean Harville, Stella brought Chikuni to the church in June where they performed a song for the congregation.

"Following the visit, former pastor Melvin Thompson told Harville that his daughter and her fiance could not sing at the church again."

I'd love/hate to see the performance that inspired that decision. Here's the story. http://www.huffingtonpost.com...

Inter racial marriages is not a sin for a Christian church. *** and ******* marriages are,
Yet, the government can twist an arm and has done to get what they want.

Churches are the only groups that are allowed to do shameful and despicable things with no recourse.
