For those who say yes, if you are getting a big one, then you are allowing the federal gov't to use YOUR money interest free. You shouldn't be paying in so much.

I haven't had a taxable income since 1995 and no, I wasn't then, nor now living on any kind of Welfare, food stamps, etc.

Your point is especially good when you consider that while you are letting the government use your money interest free all year, if you owe them, they won't let you use their money for a day past the deadline interest-free.

Why give the financially irresponsible members of Congress an interest free loan? Better to get nothing back or even owe a little...

Exactly!

Though I'm married, I choose a higher taxing status (Single with NO dependents ~ though I have family members who are my dependents). I also have them take additional money out of both my military retirement check and my bi-weekly paycheck from my job.
For you Democrats who ignorantly ****** I'm getting "free money", I'm certainly not. It's extra money I'm paying in, beyond what the government misappropriates each 2-4 weeks from my money.

I didn't make much money last year, and did pay taxes on what I earned...so I certainly expect a tax refund on what I paid in (at least for the most part)...

I should be paying a good chunk in. Which means I'm coming out ahead compared to those getting a refund. Anyone getting a refund is doing things wrong. You're giving an interest free loan to the government.

As usual .. nope .. (It's a wash)

The last time I received a refund was 1989.

We always err on the side of caution when it comes to our money, however, if we do owe it's because we borrowed the government's money, tax free, and made money with it in the meanwhile......

This administration gobbled it up along with $3 to $4K more from my family income. Makes for difficult times....

It won't be much, that's for sure.

How long it takes to get it (due to recent IRS threats to Congress about cutbacks) is another matter.

I'm self employed...my income is extremely variable - I could toss out a number for this year and either be 50% over or under that figure...and my income is typically only a 1/3 of the gross after expenses. I figure its better to be a little under than way over
