Are imported foods safe?

In recent news, we have seen contaminated Chinese wheat gluten that was responsible for the death and illness to a large number of people's pets.


Do you think that food imported from other countries is safe?

Some are okay but others are not. For example, I heard that in China, their packaged food products are not safe and clean. I know that China hates America, but I didn't think that they'd really stop checking their products to check if it's safe.

yes and no only chinese food is bad i said in a previous poll that ingredients from china weren't harmless but it might be you never know

Most of the time. Gosh, we have fruits and veggies year round now from all over the world. We do need to improve our FDA, update the poor ole antiquated system, and add more employees.

Other countries do not have or follow our standards. Also we do not have nearly enough inspectors.

I think most are safe, but we should have enough inspectors to check and if a country keeps sending contaminated food to our country we should stop buying!!

I definetly couldn't say yes, but I also can't say no. Some are safe, most are, but I just heard or read that something else wasn't safe that comes from, I think it said China. All of the information isn't coming to my mind at the moment, but I remember thinking to myself I would only purchase tuna in a can from norway anyway, I don't care for canned food, so it wouldn't be a problem for me, but I think we are going to have to be very careful in purchasing food that comes from other countries.
