Take the money away from organized crime.

It'll be just like when they did away with prohibition.

Where do the students get their marijuana? 38% reported they got from a friend who obtains it legally, 23% reported from their parents, 22% from the black market, 9% from medical marijuana dispensaries, 4% from medical marijuana cardholders, 3% from retail marijuana store,, The dumbing down of America continues....

its an issue for each state. Im personally in favour of legalization, but its not something the federal government should be involved in

It drove up the black market? no it did not. the black market will always be there yet Colorado put 4.5 million in tax revenue back into it's budget in December 2014. sounds like a win to me

I used to be more than I am now. However, with the attention the hippie generation gave pot as being the absolute perfect drug that would bring world peace and cure cancer, we're already getting nightmare stories of the mental health issues involved with heavy use. I still remember the day when a good smoke was the best thing a person could do to take the edge off. So, I'm not convinced that smoking anything is something we should be encouraging the next generation to do. If we're going to micro-manage people's bad habits, then get off my back and let me go back to enjoying my cigarettes if you want to tell kids smoking anything is OK. Pot's a weed, tobacco's a weed. It's only a matter of time before they figure out that anything carbon based is going to cause lung cancer.

Not only would this reduce crime (if it's legal there's no money in illegal smuggling and dealing) but it would make drug laws more consistent (an overdose of alcohol is fatal but legal, an overdose of pot is not fatal but illegal).

It would also eliminate what I've always seen as an ethical issue. Our legislators are sworn into office on a bible, most claim belief in ***. If *** created everything, *** created marijuana. Legislators passed laws making marijuana illegal. So man has become presumptuous enough to claim something *** created is illegal (thereby placing himself above ***)..

It should never have been outlawed.
It is a huge waste of tax money, and wrecks otherwise law-abiding citizens' lives.
It is an EXCUSE for gov't to steal our property and throw us in cages.

Potheads are morons. Drunks are morons too, but alcohol only kills the liver. Pot kills the brain.

I actually don't give a rats what someone does in their own home. My problem is when it leaves their house and harms someone else.

IMO Alcohol is worse ...causes aggression and fights as well as kills thousands in drunk driving incidents

Right, because no one has ever died due to marijuana, and there's never been a DUI death due to pot.

Look, I have had two potheads in my family, a sister and a stepson. Both were complete and total wastes of space until they stopped smoking it. Both were criminals, and not just for smoking pot, until they stopped using it. Both are still trying, years later, to recover their lives since smoking it. Marijuana destroys lives, and not just the ones that indulge.

As for alcohol, I'm all for getting rid of it too. I realize that didn't work out so well the last time they tried it, but a prohibition won't affect me in any negative way since I don't drink it now. Roads will be safer, and my neighborhood would be a **** of lot better if the Mexicans weren't allowed to drink. At the very least I wouldn't have to weave my way through the maze of empties strewn throughout the neighborhood every morning.

At least decriminalize it and stop putting good tax paying citizens in jail.

Yes I am, and for many many reasons, not because I want to smoke it either, if I did it's all over the place. When did you ever hear of anyone getting Cirrhosis of the Liver from pot? :)

marijuana is still a drug despite its supposed 'medicinal qualities' aka the placebo effect. it is illegal and should never be legalised. that would be purely idiotic

You should check out this movie called "Reefer Madness" It's right up your alley. ;)

I think voters should have the right to decide this. With the advent of Palcohol, I can't believe this is a discussion. I'm not a fan of marijuana, but alcohol is far more dangerous.

Yea why not. I don't smoke so I don't care. But I think this would help the economy. Tax marijuana use heavily, and use that money for schools, roads, even police departments. I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't mind seeing it done.

Should be up to the states and local municipalities.
