Biographer Don Lattin stumbled upon the footage of a 1956 researcher dosing volunteers at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, the Daily Mail reports.

Before the experiment, the housewife refers to herself as a "normal" person.

"My husband is an employee here at the VA and he said they were looking for normal people, so I volunteered," she says.

She then downs LSD dissolved into a glass of water. Three hours later, she appears to be having a very good trip.

"Everything is in color and I can feel the air. I can see it, I can see all the molecules -- I'm part of it. Can't you see it?" she tells the researcher, Dr. Sidney Cohen.

Cohen then asks, "How do you feel inside?"

She replies: "Inside? I don't have any inside."

The viral video has been viewed more than 500,000 times on YouTube, where many have wondered if the video -- which seems almost campy in 2011 -- is a fake.

And while LSD can lead to "bad trips" that cause fear, anxiety and even suicide, there's no denying that this housewife had a good time.

We did LSD in the 70s. It was very clean and gave you a great trip. No hang over or after effects. It was alot of fun, we laughed for hours.
In the 80s people started adding stuff to it and made it give bad trips and nasty hangovers.

I can say, from experience, that it looked real. And, I'm normal.

The LSD film narrated by Sal Mineo is probably the most informative and true film out there.

I'd say it's real. I'm not going to go out and take some acid, i'm afraid of it. I did do it once though. And it was the most lovely experience. But I'd never do it again. Unless I was really trying to figure something out about myself, that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

Do they need to have another test? Because I think it would be better if they tried ONE more time with a different subject just to be sure of their research...

I wouldn't know ,but it's disturbing to watch. also sounds like it's trying to encourage our young. The way she was acting all I could think of was Wheeler and the way he was acting on the camera in the car garage. Maybe he didn't know what happened . Did he get the same water?

Real or Fake? Everything certainly seemed to say yes except one thing, IMO.

The fact that she claimed to be seeing so much yet she seemed to stare at the same spot in the same direction for the vast majority of the time just dosent hold true for me.

Im not saying it couldnt have been a natural way for her to react but I cant say that she wasnt taking her queue from someone or from reading something off camera either...

Oh, she was looking at something, believe me, unless she's a really good actress. You see things all over the place.

I remember staring at a rust spot and watching it pulsate....it was real; without a doubt :-)

Could easily have been real. Colorful traces, rays, visible molecules and infinite beauty conceptualized. Yeah, that sounds about right. She had a pretty controlled environment, though. It could just as easily have been moster faces, body meltdowns and soul *******, if she wasn't stable and/or the environment was wrong.

Acid is a mental wild west drug ... :-)

I guess my years of growning up were too normal according to what kids do today. We never smoked, had liquor of any kind and certainly did not do drugs. I have no idea if this is real and really do not care to watch the video just too stupid to even admit that she did.

No question! I had a similar experience becoming one with things that I touched!

This is most definitely real. I've taken acid enough times to know what it does and how she's explaining it (on a good trip mind you) is what happens. Feels like everything is "breathing".

Based on my own experience, this looks like the real deal.

This was probably a true account on her part. Acid got a bad rap along with most other hallucinogens. If our government can't tax it or control the people that use it, it becomes demonized and people get killed or incarcerated because of it.

Some people who are already a little wacked take this stuff and it just helps push them over the edge they're already standing at.

I doubt my mom was ever a normal person, but I don't think the acid helped things.

I'm leaning towards Real mainly because I see no reason to doubt it. It's entirely plausible because there were quite a few experiments with LSD in the '50s. iI was a relatively new drug at the time.

The experience can be wonderful or it can be incredibly scary. In my humble opinion this appeared to be a valid example of someone who was clearly under the influence of a small dose of good quality LSD. As pleasant as that looked I don't recommend anyone play with LSD ... just too much chance for things to go horribly wrong!
