Designers driven by faith are taking the fashion world by storm. A few new brands are finding success with trendy pieces that promote conservative styles.

From New York to LA, women’s ware collections are providing long-sleeved, floor-length looks -- that are selling like hotcakes. “Today Style” reports that women with Jewish, Islamic and Christian backgrounds want, “haute without being too hot.”

They want to experience fun with fashion, without violating their religious faiths. Designers are giving them the modest looks they want and they seem to be selling very well. The market is rip and profits are heading in the right direction.

Companies like DKNY are setting the trend with conservative fashions. Even Instagram and Pinterest are giving them the marketing boost they need. These trendy, cutting-edge, styles could soon be coming to a mall near you. What are your thoughts? Can faith inspire fashion?

Christian crosses are EVERYWHERE in jewelry. Just go to Santa Fe - or anywhere in New Mexico, for that matter - and you'll find at least a million different Navajo or Catholic crosses hanging on the walls! And then, of course, there are the Celtic necklaces I purchased at Mont-Saint-Michel when my French class toured northern France back in June... religious fashion isn't always tacky or uptight.

Uninspired Follower! Sediment once occupying a tall mountain pushed down by erosion and rivers to the bottom of a ocean, where it will remain there forever, unnoticed and unimportant ... There are many admirable qualities of the "stick in the MUD."

Apparently. Even the Cross became an accessory after Madonna got through with it.

Religion can never inspire self-expression, only prudishness, perhaps disguised in colorful patterns and designs ...

I take it you've never seen the Sistine Chapel?

Wait. You are the one who doesn't want to call art self-expression just because we're paid for it. If you have no respect for art, why should I have respect for your useless opinion?

You should respect my useless opinion because you have no idea of what art is, and I'm trying to help you.

Man creates art. Those are rocks. As for the top picture, you tell me. Is it self-expression?

Art is art. If scientists can claim that monkeys and elephants can create art, why can't ***?

I refuse to spread the original 'piece' online. If you don't recall it, that's a GOOD thing.

Here's the definition: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

You cannot separate art from humans (Unless you feel entitled to not follow the rules of logic, which, obviously, you do). Sorry!

The original piece? Do you mean Robert Mapplethorpe?

For those of you so inclined, here's the link to his ART: http://www.mapplethorpe.org/e...

"I refuse to ..." You see, prudishness. I told you right from the beginning.

You're funny. You narrow the definition of art to suit yourself, but you call anyone 'narrow' who refuses to spread that sort of filth. That's not prudish. It's called RESPECT.

The Muslim wants to be accepted any way they can get it without being rejected. Muslims strive against others no matter what they do obeying their Quran. They get one thing accepted and then another untill they have their coils around whoever strangling them with sharia law like a giant anaconda. It starts out all innocent like seeming to be harmless. They do this first. If that does not work they turn into ISIS. Muslims follow a 100% evil book called the Quran.

Everything can inspire fashion and in this case as there are so many muslim women now living in the western countries, they represent a new market that many business people will try to target.

Culture influences culture and religion is an integral part of culture, so.... Yeah. Art and science at times too even, the Mayans, Newton was a crazy eyed fundementalist that had revelations from *** himself that the holy trinity wasn't an actuality and other stuff I'm gonna need to look up.

Most "fashion" is tacky as ****. I'll stick with my steel toed boots, plain ole jeans, and rock band t-shirts. Simple and better looking and more durable than any "designer"crap

It's not my definition, moron. That's the point. This is not a liberal conspiracy. Just statin' the facts. I didn't call anybody "narrow." You're reading so much into this. So is that your definition of art: something that's pretty and not filth, something that doesn't challenge you to think differently, but rather confirms what you already know to be true. If so, you're so incredibly arrogant, thinking that you can corrupt and control art to serve your own designs and purposes.
