I was watching the movie Unleashed with Morgan Freeman and he plays a blind man and in a scene where they show him sleeping I just got curious

But they have to use their mind's eye.

those who lost their vision before the age of five don't have visual dreams, as if they were blind from birth. They may not have retained enough visual imagery to dream visually.

depends on when they went blind. Blind from birth - no.

Sighted before blind - yes.

I think it depends on when they went blind because dreams are your subconscious mind's way of making sense of the world, using all your senses. If you have never seen anything than you have nothing visually recorded to dream about.

yes, they can... but only if they had seen at some point... that is to say, if you go blind later in life, you can still see in your dreams unless there is a mental block against it. However if you were born blind, you do not see in your dreams, because it is an unknown sense. Your brain wouldn't even know what to put there.

I imagine it's hard to find a blind person on an internet forum but if I do I will ask him for you.

A very interesting question indeed.

I would venture to say yes. The brain is a very complicated super computer and if a person is blind from birth the other senses are boosted highly. Blind people see with their ear's, by touch, smell, etc. Helen Keller had the ability to see a person by feeling their face thus giving her a mental image to see in her mind.

Blind people read by braille which again gives them a mental image to form and see in their mind.

That being said I'm not sure if they can form the colors we see. They can read what a flame looks like and feel the heat from a fire but again...I'm not sure if they can form the spectrum of flame color we are able to see from yellow, to blue to white hot.

If they could see prior to going blind, yes.

Depends on if they were always blind or had sight before... People born blind have audible dreams...

Some can, especially those who lost their sight after having seen.

If they were not born blind ,and their visual cortex is still extant ,they will still have visual dreams.
