This has been going on since last Wednesday it started out with the right side of my throat swelling up and than later normal cold symptoms joined in runny nose coughing occasional sneeze. I was never nacious or lost my apatite. Lately I have notice great improvement almost normal in the day time except for the cough. However at night my cough is terrible I am coughing so **** and uncontrollably that I puke my remaining food items whatever wasn't digested, normally by this time most of my food is digested and it is just water I am puking up however I was feeling so fantastic during the say and evening that I was snacking on pretzels. This ridiculous coughing usually is ether at late night early morning for example it is 1:30am now but sometimes if I take nyquil it will happen when I wake the next morning and my nose will be completely stuffed and I get the hit with a truck feeling which I blame on the nyquil, I haven't taken any so far tonight but these coughing fits make it seem pointless to continue sleeping.

Is there something I can do to help this? Quick maybe? I have a camping trip planned for the weekend I hate to miss it since I'm fine during the day but I don't want to be stuck and miserable at night not to mention keep my boyfriend up.

That explains the morning mucus, I was blaming it on the nyquil..with antibiotics how long does it take for the bronchitis to leave?

In about two to three days you should feel better. The cough, however, lingers. Over the counter Mucinex might help with that.

I looked up symptoms for bronchitis and fever came up, I don't have that, do you have to have all the symptoms to have this?

Hmm...I've been diagnosed with bronchitis numerous times and never had fever. I've heard my doctor say that viral bronchitis will definitely give you a fever, though.

Hate to sound gross; but what color is the mucus you're coughing up in the morning? If it's yellow/ brown/ green etc. that's indicative of a baterial infection. Clear mucus can indicate viral.

Its the pastel yellow green color where would one pick up a bacterial infection like this from?

Yep; it's bacterial. Which is good; that means you can treat it via antibiotics.

I wouldn't recommend camping. Your immune system is under a lot of stress right now, and you need rest. As for sleeping with it, try Robitussin cough gels and Mucinex. Your doctor may be able to you prescribe to Robitussin with codeine in it. Works great but makes you drowsy.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to something such as mold that may be more present at night as the air condenses or you are laying in bed. Could there be moisture in your walls or room not ventilated well or even something where you are in the evening as opposed to the day time? If you are fine during the day and at work yet then go home and and start the problems then it could easily be something environmental in your home. Even in your furniture or your bedding such as mattress or other areas around your bed.
Sure sounds like allergic reaction to me.

I've been home all day both where I sleep and around the house, I've never had any allergies before.

Allergies come and go in our lives and mold can grow where it didn't grow before.

If the right side of your throat swelled up that's probably indicative of a swollen lymph node...which means your body is fighting off some kind of infection...either bacterial or viral. You're coughing so much at night because, as you lay down (and try to sleep), the mucus drains from your sinus cavity to your lungs.

My guess is you probably have bronchitis. You might need some antibiotics to help fight it off (unless it's viral). Go to your doc.

You've got an infection. See a doc. You probably need antibiotics. If you're over 21, ditch the Ny Quil and do a shot of Jeagermeister. It's a medicinal drink that soothes a cough.

If this occurs in the night, when you are in a reclined position, you may not be "sick." You might be experiencing acid reflux. Try not eating anything right before you go to bed and don't drink alcohol or anything acidic, such as orange juice. If you think this maybe the problem, you should go to the doctor. Persistent reflux can lead to erosion of the esophagus.

I hope you've learned from this; you lucked out. Could have become pneumonia according to our doctor. Stuff usually doesn't go away by itself. This is the 21st century! Please take better care of yourself. Please.

Of coarse not, but I'm not going to go to the doctor every time I sneeze.

MD time for you. Don't wait too long. Lung infections are no joke. I had the upper lobe in my left lung surgically removed from a particularly nasty infection that went septic....go !

On the plus side my doctor said it was the beggining of bronchidis not allergies on the downside I found mold on the inside of a cup I didn't bring down from my bed room.
