My only regret going as a 44 year old man is that I didn't have the guts as 18 year old kid to become a Marine. Instead I pursued a MBA and stared at a computer in my office for the last 25 years...what a waste of my time and effort.

Just curious, but why would being a Marine be so much better than the path you chose?

Because I chose the life of a sheep

Twenty-five years. Ten hours after I graduated from high school the recruiter said step forward and raise your right hand. Four years later I got out, worked my way through St Mary's University,(There was no GI Bill at that time) and went back in for another 21 years. Loved every minute but didn't miss it for a second when I took off the uniform.

Virtually my entire family going back to the Revolution are/were veterans, but me.

I got #11 in the last draft for Vietnam . . . and then they ***** the draft.

I'm proud of my family history, and I'm proud of my son-in-law in the Navy.

We were about 100 Klicks north Phnom of stuck between to rice paddies near a little town called Prek Sambo I think that is how they spelled it....been so long.
I cant tell you the condition some of those kids were in. All we could do was to fix them send them to a military hospital and hope for the best. Some returned, some went home never to return.
Would I do it all again, (very long time in thought) yes, because even back than I did it for my country not for my president or politician.

Despite the having the recruiter do his absolute best to get me in, a history of epileptic seizures kept me out. In fact, I even petitioned my US Congressman to get me in but I had no luck.

The military is send to solve business issues like it was back then when US military was send to bomb cole miners within the US. It doesn't make a difference to me if this habit is now exercised on foreign grounds.

Not just yet, but I'm going to a senior military college. I have the utmost respect for anyone past or present who has served in the United States military (except for deserters and defectors, of course).

Served 4 years in Nam. When I returned from **** I lived in ****. I seen things that would make most people puke.

My Family on both sides fought in the Revolution, can be traced as far back as fighting with William Wallace and with Robert the Bruce who later was declaired King of Scotland where he bequeathed land to our family and thus the Livingston's. Check the name in American History.

Family fought in the Civil War, WW 1, WW 2, Korea you name the modern day war you can bet your last dollar that someone in my family is there to help keep us safe. Now that I am an old fart I have 4 grandsons giving their all, and all for are "lifers"

I'll bet you support our military.
Let your support replace regret. We do what seems necessary at the time and can't allow time to cause 2nd thought.
Living life with purpose. We do that and regret not.
